I attended college at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, where I received my degree in Exercise Science. While balancing my workload I was able to earn a starting position on their Division I football team. During this time I began to really appreciate the interconnectedness of the human body. Unfortunately, I also had to experience what it is like when your body is not performing optimally, and had to have shoulder surgery, subsequently undergoing major rehabilitation. It was a bitter sweet situation for me. Although I went through the challenging experience of rehabilitation firsthand, I enjoyed learning and ended up working in the field for two years at Integrated Rehabilitation Services in Fairfield, CT.
I have also pushed myself to the
physical and mental limit when at the healthy end of the spectrum, competing in
ten triathlons and numerous road races. I enjoy all kinds of activities, such as
windsurfing, paddle boarding, snowboarding, surfing, kayaking, hiking, mountain
biking, and believe there is always a reason (no matter what season) to get
outside and be active! I make sure to
include my dog, Dixie, in as many of my workouts as possible, and have to
credit her for motivating me to get out of bed on those mornings I just didn’t
want to get up and exercise. I love to travel and explore the world, learning about its
inhabitants and how they treat their bodies.
I have a deep desire to familiarize myself with new and practical
techniques in maintaining a healthy mind, body, and soul so that I can share
them with my KepFit clients. I have obtained my certification through the
National Strength and Conditioning Association in addition to being CPR
certified and am always continuing the journey to learn more.
As of May 2011, I am CrossFit Level 1 certified, giving me the opportunity to bring CrossFit fundamentals where ever I go!
